Meet the management team behind NUS Co-op — the 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 who make sure NUS Co-op fulfills its mission to support students during their campus days in NUS 🦸🦸‍♀️ In the upcoming posts, you’ll get to find out a bit more about them and how they contribute to making your NUS days more memorable and fun.

Rachel, IT Administrator cum Merchandiser

Joined NUS Co-op : March 2008

I have started with NUS Co-op as IT Support Engineer overseeing organizations' computer systems.

The role involves maintaining information systems, network as well as providing advice, training, and technical support for various projects.

With new colleagues joining the IT team, I have some free time to take up an additional role as a Merchandiser for NUS Memorabilia. This role requires me to do sourcing, planning, and managing the inventory and range of products. And I have the opportunities handling special orders with customization for corporate events.

I have enjoyed working closely with the customers, suppliers, the retail team to bring in the right products to the interest of the customers and fulfilling customer’s sales request.

Patricia, Assistant Manager, Books & Gifts

Joined NUS Co-op: 2007

As Assistant Manager of the Books Division, my work involves the ordering of general trade books, managing the medical, dentistry, nursing books and handling corporate orders for books. Recently, with the start of the Student Entrepreneur’s Market (SEM), I have also worked with the SEM students to create promotions and to onboard their products in our online and offline store. I also manage the gifts items at our outlets at Central Forum and The Museum Store.

What I enjoy most about my role is to see books on shelves or on promotion sell out in the store. I also really enjoy interacting with customers and introducing products that sell in the store.

Karen, Senior Manager

Joined NUS Co-op : 2011

As the Senior Manager of NUS Co-op, besides overseeing the NUS Memorabilia and Sundry Division, I also work closely with my marketing team to promote products and services via social media platforms to reach out to the university community.

To engage the community, we organised the T-shirt Design Competition in 2022 to give students a chance to showcase their creativity and also to win prize money. The winning designs were made into t-shirts as part of our NUS merchandise. Last year, we also started the Student Entrepreneur Market (SEM) to support homegrown NUS student entrepreneurs in their product-based business.

No work is stress free! I always try to find joy during the course of my work. Creating a cosy store display, sourcing and developing products which meet customers' needs, all these day-to-day works give me a sense of satisfaction.

Lee Tiong Hoon, Assistant Manager, Sundry & PC

Joined NUS Co-op: October 2015

As Assistant Manager, my day-to-day job scope spans from liaising with suppliers, administrative retail tasks, displaying and sourcing for new products, to preparing quotations and packing orders for departments and external customers. I enjoy my work as it allows me to constantly learn new things on the job.

Thulasi, Assistant Manager, Books

Joined NUS Co-op: 1989

My role as Assistant Manager, Books, in NUS Co-op involves sourcing for books recommended by NUS lecturers, as well as ordering non-text higher academic books for shelves. I love my job and especially enjoy working with our faculties and corporate customers!

Jessie, CEO

Joined NUS Co-op: Jan 2008

As the CEO of NUS Co-op, a big part of my job involves developing and executing business strategies to drive the profitability and relevance of the company. I also manage the organization structure, reporting lines and evaluate the performance of divisions. As the company representative to report to the Board of Directors, I am responsible for making capital allocation recommendations to the Board of Directors and ensuring that the company grows in a healthy way.

At NUS Co-op, we strive to be a valued partner of NUS in enhancing campus life and environment and are always looking for new ways to better serve the needs of students.

Douglas, Assistant Manager, PC

Joined NUS Co-op: May 2018

As an Assistant Manager, I am in charge of purchasing, administrative duties, sourcing for new products and providing one-stop services related to PC/notebook/hardware.

Through this job, I most enjoy interacting with customers and sharing PC hardware experience. I feel most fulfilled when my customers are satisfied with my services.

Thank you NUS Co-op management team for making our campus days a little brighter! ☀️
