Scented Candles that Improve Your Focus During WFH

What is your business about?

Le.cleobyv aims to enhance the aesthetics of your homes and everyday life. We offer a collection of curated products ranging from home & living, to gifts & favours. Specialised in Scented Candles and Botanical Coasters, our products are handcrafted in small batches!

What made you decide to start your business? When did you start?

Le.cleobyv is a Singaporean small business sprouted from the work-from-home culture in January 2021. As a student studying at home, I was unfocused due to the noise and distractions constantly surrounding me. I coincidentally realised that scented candles greatly improved my focus while working from home. Hence I started to design products and gradually created aesthetics which include scented candles and coasters!

Why did you choose to take part in SEM?

It is a great opportunity and platform to showcase my business to my fellow NUS friends, and at the same time work with NUS Co-op and other small businesses.

What are some of the challenges you face as a student entrepreneur?

Juggling between school and my small business has been taxing, especially since I am staying in NUS Hall, where I have many commitments and limited weekends to fulfil orders. Growing the company alone is not easy, but I love what I do and find joy in the happiness I bring to my clients(:

What is one tip that has helped you in juggling your responsibilities as a student and entrepreneur well?

Planning my schedule a week in advance has helped me manage my responsibilities, hence, I have better time management when I prioritize the important tasks at hand and constantly improve my products so as to meet the demand and trends.

What motivates you and keeps you going in your business?

Everyday when I am studying, I would light my candle and take a sip of my morning coffee that sits on my coaster which I made. I made it a habit to remind myself that every small thing matters and live by a quote "Our world consists of everything exquisite, sweet and bitter, mixture of mess, laughter and wild adventure. We colour out of the box – intentionally."
