Designs with origins in Chinese culture and everyday life

What is your business about?

myfieryass is a rojak of fun and playful illustrations and products, inspired by Chinese mythology, cultural and phrases, and casual interpretations of everyday life in Singapore. Products include enamel pins, acrylic pins, art prints and custom name embroidery.

What made you decide to start your business? When did you start?

After doing a research paper on the Mid-Autumn Festival, I was intrigued by the tales and legends that were passed down from generations to generations and started to take notice of the traditions, superstitions and slangs used in Singapore. I wanted to translate it into artworks for others to see, thus started myfieryass in March 2021.

Why did you choose to take part in SEM?

Opportunity presented itself and I decided to take the chance. There are many benefits of participating in SEM and it is not everyday that you are offered the chance to sell your products in retail stores.

What are some of the challenges you face as a student entrepreneur?

Juggling between studies, social and myfieryass – sleep has already been excluded out of this triangle.

What is one tip that has helped you in juggling your responsibilities as a student and entrepreneur well?

Plan your time well, don’t let one responsibility take over the other.

What motivates you and keeps you going in your business?

Receiving the products that I created. Even with its ups and downs, it feels rewarding to be able to see my design come to life.
